I help to raise awareness

I was a child living with depression and suicidal thoughts. I was never a troublemaker as a child or teenager. I was the quiet one. I slept in school, never turned in my homework and often skipped school. I was depressed and I wanted to die to get away from the abuse I was living with at home. I couldn’t tell anyone what was going on because I was told I would be hurt and taken away. So, I kept quiet about it and suffered alone. I turned to cutting myself to gain some little control over my life. I was never allowed to have friends or do any after school activities. Today as an adult, I help to raise awareness about mental illness. I have two adult children that help me manage and maintain my mental health wellness.
