As an educator and school counselor, I have seen the stigma towards children's mental health in patients, teachers, and society. It is important that we bring awareness towards children's mental illness and educate society that children's mental illness. It shouldn't be hidden, thrown under the rug or a topic to be scared to talk about because this path will not better the lives and future of our children. I am a witness of how bringing awareness and talking about mental health has helped my mother cope with her depression. She, like many children, was undiagnosed for many years.
