Three Major Crises

Jan 30, 2015, 10:44 AM
My daughter who is 13 has overcome three major crises within the past year. She endured her parents separating, her grandmother dying two weeks later, plus being diagnosed with a life changing medical condition several months later. She began "cutting" and talked of hurting herself. She once woke me up at midnight and brought me a container that had several pairs of scissors and several razors in it. She then told me, "You better take these from me." She was assessed by a mental health professional and found not to be suicidal. We got her into counseling. She is doing better at coping with life stressors, but we continue to worry about her mental as well as physical health.
