Do you know a child who needs help in Corpus Christi or Kingsville area? It is often difficult for family members of children who experience mental health issues to get this help. They wonder:  Is there really a problem? If there is, how will it affect my child? Where to go for advice? What treatment is available?

At One in Five Minds, we strive to answer these questions on our website and in person.

In partnership with Community in Schools Coastal Bend, Clarity Child Guidance Center is excited to launch a One in Five Minds Campaign in your area!

You can find resources on the website plus more local information, such as:

  • A list of local agencies that provide services
  • A list of key support organizations
  • A local contact for questions

We will also organize regular education events with the help of CIS. Please share the word about this campaign.

A Silent Epidemic - Children's Mental Illness

1 in 5 children in the U.S. suffer from a mental, behavioral and emotional concern. Of those, more than 60% don't receive any help. The statistics for those who don't get help are staggering.

  • Half of the children with a mental illness will drop out of high school.
  • They are twice as likely to start using illicit drugs and alcohol.
  • They are more likely to end up in the juvenile system
  • Many attempt suicide.

The One in Five Minds campaign, sponsored by Clarity Child Guidance Center, raises awareness about mental illness among those who have and work with kids to create an environment where all children who need mental health treatment will be able to access it.
