I began to notice the changes in my best friend as we grew older. Her father committed suicide when she was young. The family believes that it is hereditary because her brother also has depression. As these symptoms of depression began to manifest, it was very clear that my friend had a mental illness. We were young, and so we did not reach out for help from family or professionals. It was rate that she even reached out to me, but it became too much for her to bear on her own. With constant support, care, and spiritual resources, my friend began to heal. She still has good and bad days, but there are far more good days now.
