I had never heard of or thought about children's mental health until my daughter was about 3 years old. We realized she was not like other children and we were at a loss as to how to help her. We began to have suspicions that there was something significantly wrong, but we thought if we ignored it, "it" would just go away. When we finally broke down and pleaded for help when she was 5, we got the diagnosis that would change her life and ours forever...Bipolar disorder, ADHD, and sever anxiety. It has been a difficult journey these last 4 years, but it has also been one of hope as we have received treatment and support for our entire family.
